Praise God For Answered Prayer!…

Praise the Lord~ we have been able to purchase a piece of land and a partially finished house for the field to have a permanent office and house! Please pray that we will have the necessary resources to finish the house in a timely manner.
Praise the Lord~ the needed printing equipment has been donated! This specialized equipment will enable the ministry to not only print materials for pastors' training and youth ministries, but also to expand to help other Christian organizations. We all see the hand of Jesus in this! His timing is everything!

Personal Prayer Requests for the Field…

Now we ask that you please pray for Kenneth Hopson as he goes to South Africa in mid May to choose the printing equipment that he needs. This equipment will be loaded onto a container and shipped from South Africa to Uganda. Also, please pray that the Lord will provide the necessary funds to ship the container of printing equipment and pay any necessary duty on the equipment here in Uganda.
Please pray for the Mayos as they prepare for their Homeland Ministry Assignment. There are a lot of details to finalize before they leave at the end of July.
Now that Keith and Donna Bourne have finished language study, please pray for God's guidance as they begin to learn more about the ministries they will be involved in. Also, pray for their daughters, Haley and Rachel as they finish the remainder of this school year.
Our vehicles in northern Uganda (the Rinehimers & Coppedges) have recently had serious mechanical problems. Please pray that they can be repaired in a timely manner, as we need to travel to Sudan by May 12. Please pray for our safety on the roads & good discernment in traveling & how to handle these problems.

Ongoing Prayer Requests for the Field:

Please pray for the monthly pastoral trainings taking place in 10 different locations including 1 in Sudan . Over 180 pastors are being trained at 3 different levels.
Please pray as we continue to look at new areas for outreach. New ministries have already begun in South Sudan . We are now looking at ministry opportunities in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and 5 strategic locations within Uganda .
Please pray that the Lord will provide 25 to 30 new missionaries in the next 5 years to meet the needs of the expanding ministries.
Please pray for land to be purchased to build an Urban Center or to be able to purchase land with an existing building for multi-purpose ministries in Kampala. This Urban Center would be a place for the 600 plus students from 11 African countries in the University Ministry. It would be a multi purpose building for a church to reach professionals, a place to begin businesses or to rent out to other businesses to help fund the ministries of the church.
Please pray that God will provide the necessary resources to meet the needs within all of the ministry opportunities.
Please pray that we would all have the attitude of Christ, that we would keep Him the center focus of our lives, marriages, families, & ministries, and that we would be a light to Uganda .

Personal Prayer Requests for the Field:

You prayed for a place to live for the Mayos because their landlord is not renewing the rent contract. They asked for a place within walking distance of the school where the boys attend and Lisa teaches. God has provided land and a partially built home at a reasonable price. Please pray that the house will be finished before their current contract expires.
Pray for the Heritage High School Youth Retreat, April 26-28. We have about 50 people participating, including counselors. Pray for the sessions, safety, and for spiritual growth or awakening for the youth attending.
Pray for the 1^st official pastoral training in Yei, Sudan, April 4-6. Also, please pray for protection and peace for Joanna & Elsie Jayne, as they will be alone in Arua while the rest of the team heads to Sudan.
Please pray for the Hopson family that they will seek Jesus in all decisions and matters that come their way and that they will show the love of Him in all things.
Pray that the remaining time slots for the 24-7 chain to be filled.
Praise that construction on the Coppedges house was completed in less than 2 weeks, and their time living with the Rinehimers was a blessing to everyone involved!
Praise that the Coppedges successfully got baby Elsie Jayne’s immunizations in Arua.

We are so thankful for each of you! We only have one time slot left to fill on our list. It is from 1:30-2 am Eastern time (10:30-11 pm Pacific, OR 6:30-7 am in the UK)

We know that there are many prayer requests and that it may be too much to pray for every request each day. You can divide it up any way that works for you. It is completely up to you how you want to pray for the list. The important thing is that we know people are praying every day of the week throughout the year.

Personal Prayer Requests for the Field:

Pray for a reasonably priced place to live for the Mayos. Their landlord is not renewing the contract that expires in a few months. They would like a place within walking distance of the school where the boys attend and Lisa teaches.

The Coppedges’ house is currently under construction due to termite damage, so they are living with the Rinehimers. This could be challenging with a baby, so please pray for quick repairs on their home!

Please pray for the Coppedges as they are trying to sort out getting their new baby, Elsie Jayne’s, immunizations in Arua.

Please pray for the son of Delight Hopson’s cousin. His name is Brady, and is 18 years old. He has had 25 surgeries in his life to correct several birth defects. This last one was to correct his jaw alignment and make it easier for him to breath. During his surgery, Brady had a stroke. As of right now, he is still on a ventilator and is being kept in a coma state. The extent of damage is not known completely yet, but we do know that Brady has a long road of recovery. We are so thankful that He has Jesus to hold him. God is so faithful.

Praise God for a successful survey trip to Yei, Southern Sudan in February! We will be officially starting a new pastoral training site there in April!

Special Prayer Request

PLEASE PRAY for this crisis in Kenya… Please pray for an end to the violence and for healing & reconciliation for the Kenyans and the many missionaries serving God in that country. Pray also for those on the Uganda team who are helping with relief items to the Kenyan refugees in Uganda.

Ongoing Prayer Requests for the Field:

Prayer for the Urban Center Ministry

Please pray for a “place of their own” for the approximately 600 Kampala International University students who meet for services, prayer meetings and accountability groups each day of the week during the school year. At present they use a classroom at the university, where sometimes services have to be changed or cancelled due to the school schedule.

Prayer for the Print Shop Ministry

Pray for the Lord’s provision of equipment, that we may be better able to print Christian literature, including materials for the pastoral trainings & youth ministries.

Praise God for the successful start for new students in the 9 pastoral training centers.

Please pray for all of the pastor training centers going on all over

Uganda.

Please pray for the survey trip to Sudan on Feb. 16-18 and to

Congo

in March.

Please pray for the mission teams that will be coming in the summer, as they begin to meet and prepare for their trips.

Personal Prayer Requests for the Field:

Praise for the safe arrival of the Bourne Family, as they have just joined the WGM Uganda field in January.

Praise for safe return of the Coppedge family & their new healthy baby girl, Elsie Jayne, who was born on Nov. 3.

Please pray for the Hopson family as they endeavor to do all that Jesus would have them do. They need to know how to prioritize their time so that their family times can be more Christ centered.

Please pray for Lisa Fish as she is teaching grades 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 for various Bible courses (at Heritage Int’l School); pray that Jesus will clearly work in and through her and in the hearts of the kids as they receive the Word of Truth. Many of the students have yet to make a commitment to Christ, and others are seeking to let Christ take over un-surrendered areas of their lives. Pray that all involved will be pliable and receptive of the things Jesus has for them.

Pray for strength and wisdom for the Mayo family. Pray that they will continue to have opportunities to share the love of Jesus with those they meet.

January Prayer Request For WGM Uganda

Dear Praying Partners,

Happy New Year! We are sorry for the delay in getting these prayer requests out. We had hoped to have this in full swing by January 1st, but we have had some complications. We are sorry for the delays and problems. However, we have already started praying even though we do not have all of the slots officially filled yet. We also know that there are many of you that are praying, but you just have not let us know which time you would prefer to fill. Please send us an email indicating the time you prefer so that we can fill out the slots. Many of the time slots will have more than one person praying at that time. Some of the slots are even filled by groups, or churches. This is great! We want as many people praying as possible.

Sorry for any confusion that we have caused concerning the time slots. The orange time slots were the ones that Jonathan was asked to fill and the pink time slots were the ones that Lisa was asked to fill. They are based on the US Eastern Time zone so that we could have a standard time to be certain that all of the time slots are filled. We want to make sure that we have prayer cover all year, every day, every minute. If you cannot pray every day for the whole year, but still want to be a part of the 24/7 prayer for WGM Uganda and beyond, then just let us know what you feel you can do. We need as many people to pray as possible!

Let me include the time slots once again in the order of time without any colors. Even though some of the times have been filled, we can use more people to be involved.

24/7 Prayer

Dear friends,

The missionaries of World Gospel Mission Uganda have felt led by the Lord to be more intentional in spending time in prayer for the country of Uganda, the ministries in Uganda, and for the ministry needs in surrounding countries. We know that many people already partner with us in prayer. We are so thankful for each one!

We feel certain we should not only become more intentional about prayer, but that we should also begin a 24-hour, 7-day a week, year-long prayer chain. We have taken 24 hours and divided it among the WGM Uganda missionaries. Each missionary is being asked to find 7 partners who would be willing to pray during 15-minute time slots each day. We want to be certain that there is someone praying around the clock. We are asking that you prayerfully consider if the Lord might lead you to become a part of WGM Uganda’s 24/7/365 prayer covering. We know that we cannot do it alone, but together we can see God move in our own lives and the lives of those that we minister to every day.

We also want you to know that the church we partner with here in Uganda, Africa Gospel Church, is joining us in this exciting endeavor. At least 52 AGC churches will be taking a week at a time and covering it 24/7. Together, we hope to experience God more in 2008 in Uganda and around the world!

We will be sending out a monthly prayer update to help you pray more specifically. If you know of someone who already prays for us or would like to pray, but does not have email, would you please contact them and let us know? We could send out the updates to pass on.

Here are the times that we have been requested to fill. These time slots are for 7 days. If you cannot do it for 7 days then perhaps you can join with your neighbors, prayer group or Sunday School class to fill the 7 days. For the sake of consistency and clarity, we have chosen the Eastern Time Zone in the U.S. Please try to figure that into your planning.

An Incredible Year!

A Busy Summer! Mayo E-Update

Greetings from Uganda!

Its been a busy summer,
Its been a relaxing summer!

In May, we were privileged to host 3 of our nephews. Luke Allshouse, Blake Hawk, and Jared Smallwood came to help us in any way we needed for approximately 6 weeks. Lisa learned to cook on a regular basis for 6 hungry guys plus herself, a big change from our usual family of 4. Jonathan had a lot more muscle to help with different projects. In the end, our two sons pronounced it "too much fun"!

Although our boys were on school vacation, Lisa had more than enough to keep her busy helping at their school. The nephews helped to paint some classrooms, while Lisa was working on class schedules, interviewing new teachers and doing inventory on curriculum. While all this has been happening, the boys were content to play soccer and other games with their friends.

Jonathan returned July 26th from a Leadership Seminar for the directors in World Gospel Mission's various areas of work. It was a quick 12 day trip to the States, but he learned a lot from many different people. What a blessing!

At the end of July, we hosted a team of 10 from Northern Ireland and the USA. They were kept busy doing children's ministries in schools and churches, as well as helping with various painting and building projects. Many children received the Lord during the team's ministries!

Where does the relaxing come in? That was our boys' assessment of life without school! They had so much fun with all of the family and friends, but were eager to start school again. Jordan missed playing with his school friends, reading, and learning new things. Ethan missed playing with his school mates, studying science and doing math.

We want to say a big thank you for all you've done to help make the teaching, preaching, mentoring and discipling possible! We continue to be involved in mentoring and discipling new missionaries, church leaders and others we know, even during the school break. Lisa began teaching again in mid-August. Jonathan's usual responsibilities rarely change from month to month, although we both host a greater number of volunteers during the Northern Hemisphere's "summer".

We could not be here without you! Thanks again!

World Gospel Mission-Uganda

Historic Days

On January 7, 2007, Jonathan had the privilege to ordain two more pastors for Africa Gospel Church in Uganda. Rev. James Ouma and his wife, Caroline, minister in Kampala. Rev. Martin Owor and his wife, Rose, minister in the Bugiri area. Please pray for each of these leaders and their families. They each carry a heavy load of ministry, with the training of new pastors on top of pastoring their own churches. With the addition of James and Martin, Africa Gospel Church Uganda now has six ordained pastors. This has been a huge help to Jonathan who was the only ordained minister until recently. It has also been a great blessing to the church. We are seeing many exciting things taking place with the church in these days. They are moving from a pioneering project to an established denomination. As a part of this move we are in the process of helping Africa Gospel Church become officially registered in Uganda. It has been operating as an affiliate of World Gospel Mission. This has increased the number of meetings to work through all of the issues, but it has been a blessing to see the growth that has taken place in our leaders and in the churches. It has been a privilege to work alongside these men and women as they seek God and all that He desires for His church.
